Director of Infrastructure and Operations

Visual IQ is seeking an energetic Director of Infrastructure and Operations to help us continue evolving our infrastructure to provide the optimal platform to support our rapidly growing, global solution.  You will provide strong leadership to make sure our infrastructure is well positioned to support both current and future opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage our global infrastructure that leverages both cloud (at AWS) and hosted service providers
  • Provide expertise in helping grow our Big Data solution on the Cloud (at AWS) - built on top of Hadoop (Hortonworks HDP)
  • Manage operations of our SaaS solution that sits atop an enterprise data warehouse
  • Investigate industry trends and implement new technologies to improve the level of service and technology provided to the business, through cost reduction, avoidance, and process efficiency
  • Enhance our monitoring capabilities to more proactively address issues before they become customer perceptible
  • Day-to-day management of onshore and offshore technical teams supporting SaaS application and Cloud infrastructure
  • Build and manage to the infrastructure and operations budget
  • Guide Engineering teams to make decisions around the optimal Production and R&D footprints
  • Lead the implementation and operation of security services such as vulnerability assessment, threat monitoring, penetration testing, and incident management
  • Focus on talent acquisition, retention, and career development

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field 
  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of IT Infrastructure & Operations leadership
  • Strong background building and managing solutions that sit on top of Hadoop – Hortonworks experience strongly preferred
  • Experience designing and managing complex SaaS, Cloud, and Hosted environments
  • Expertise in enhancing and building out global enterprise monitoring capabilities
  • Strong budget management experience at both the project and organizational levels
  • Strong vendor management skills
  • Smart, engaging, driven and technical savvy 
  • Credible in his / her field with effective awareness of weakness / limitations 
  • Flexible, able to adjust and change direction as the business environment and technology universe evolves and changes 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with people at all levels inside and outside the organization. Ability to work through conflict, gain trust and persuasively influence outcomes
